In this optimistic fanfare on the hymn tune St. Thomas the phrases of the hymn alternate with the joyful refrain. Entire hymn is treated twice, first in F major and then in A major before returning to F major. This composition full of colourful harmonies will be very effective for liturgical and concert playing.
