This gentle meditation is based on the American hymn tune FOUNDATION which has a melody, entirely written in Major Pentatonic mode. Therefore this mode fits this piece very well. The tune is heard in the right hand part, and left hand with pedals play asynchronous ostinato figures around it, creating colorful harmonies. The piece touches G major, Bb major, Gb major, A major and G major areas. This composition will be very effective in liturgical organ playing and concert programs whenever peaceful music is desired.
