This is a meditation based on the famous Gregorian chant Stabat Mater. It features two contrasting episodes - one light, registered with a 4' flute and the other dark, on Principals 16 and 8. The episodes alternate in different keys. This composition will be very effective in liturgical organ playing and recitals during the season of Lent.
