This is a meditation on the beloved Christmas chorale melody Est ist ein Ros' entsprungen ("Lo, How a Rose E'er Blooming"). The tune is presented in the right hand and the phrases of the chorale alternate with the colourful refrain. This piece will be very effective in liturgical organ playing and recital programs whenever contemplative music is desired. Dedicated to Remi Chapalain.
